This wonderful book is simply a must for anybody interested in the great sport of angling, as Dave Steuart is one of the sport’s most enduring characters. It seems as if Dave has been around forever such is his personality and influence. He also happens to be highly respected and held in high esteem by all those fortunate enough to know him, and the many tributes in this book are testament to that.
Despite his humble, light-hearted nature, he is also a very determined individual possessing many talents. His angling prowess speaks for itself, just look at the photographs in this book, but how many men could buildtheir own house and create a fishery? How many of us could carve a 3lb roach from a piece of solid wood, scale perfect! How many of us could setfish up beautifully, paint, play the piano, write, and develop new angling techniques?Dave was calling for a National Rod Licence years before it happened, and he was also returning salmon before it became law. His sunk-floatpaternoster pike rig and other forward thinking techniques were written about in the 50’s, and are still widely used today. All this though, is only half the story, and the old saying, “Behind every great man is a great woman,” is never more true than in Dave’s case.Being in Dave’s company is always a pleasure (as long as you have a sense of humour), and it is rare for him not to regularly mention his wife Kay with great love and affection.
Sadly Kay is no longer with us, but what a lady she was! Like Dave she was respected and admired by all who met her, and not only that, she just happened to be THE greatest female angler in history!
For every picture of Dave in this book holding yet another big fish there is one of Kay...and quite often outdoing him. One can just imagine the banter that must have gone on.
In 1987 Kay bought Dave a word processor, with the wish that he wrote a book telling his story, and in publishing this superb book we are very proud to be a part of helping him to achieve Kay’s wish.
£35.00 plus £5.00 P&P = £40.00
